About this event

Phonics is taught in early Years and Key Stage 1 using the Read Write Inc Phonics programme. This structured programme of engaging daily activities supports the children learning to read. Using clear tracking and ability grouping every child learns rapidly at the right level. In Reception all children…

  • Read storybooks and non-fiction books
  • Take home storybooks to share
  • Begin to read with fluency and expression
  • Learn to spell using known sounds
  • Write confidently by practising what they want to write out loud first

These online workshops will tell you more about how we teach phonics, and give you some top tips to help you support your child's learning at home.

Each workshop will last for about 30 minutes, and will be limited in numbers so that you can really make the most of it and ask any questions you may have.

The Mead Trust is comprised of three schools, working across four sites. Two schools are in Trowbridge, called The Mead Primary School (operating on two sites at Hilperton and Wingfield) and Castle Mead School. One school is in Melksham, and is known as River Mead School.

We are inclusive, passionate and principled. Our vision enables individual schools to flourish, and retain and celebrate their unique identity and sense of community. We work within an ethos of mutual respect, honesty and humility in which cross Trust support and decisive collaboration are key. We are an organisation characterised by optimism, excellence and creativity. We have expectations of excellence in all that we do – seeking a ‘golden thread’ through each of the many aspects of our work.

Our Trust is currently comprised of three schools across four sites in Wiltshire. Kindness, curiosity and courage are at the heart of the Trust. We hold children at the heart of every decision we make.
